Windsurfing

Sydney’s scenic waterways make it the perfect playground for water sports lovers and windsurfing is no exception.

The best thing about windsurfing in Sydney is that there are so many places to learn under the expertise of an experienced guide.

Sydney Windsurfing Lessons & Tours, Best Harbour Spots, Australia

Most windsurfing lessons run for around 2 hours and are perfect for people 15yrs and above. The only condition is that you must be able to swim. You’ll be supplied with all the necessary equipment; including a windsurf, wetsuits and helmet. Please note that participants do need to bring certain things like bathers, towels, sunglasses and a hat. Shower facilities are available for your use after your lesson.

These lessons are run in small groups with friendly & experienced instructors. Some tours also include lunch, so you don’t have to worry about leaving the beach during your lessons.

One of the best places to learn how to windsurf is at the Balmoral Sailing School that provides a variety of lesson options. Beginners will undertake a short session on theory and will then have a practical lesson before you take to the water. For more experienced windsurfers, there is the option of joining the different competitions and events held on location. Once you are a confident windsurfer, you can head out to Botany Bay that is arguably one of the best destinations for flat water windsurfing.

You may also try out Palm Beach for an exciting windsurfing experience. Make your way to The Drain at the southern tip of the golf course. It is a scenic place to go surfing, and the clear waters make it an adventure to remember.

Balmoral Beach is also popular, but you’d have to contend with the numerous boats around this area. Alternatively, head out to Collaroy, which is a perfect location for ocean lovers and windsurfers. Other places to go windsurfing in Sydney include Narrabeen Lakes, Rose Bay and Smith Lake.

Add windsurfing to your Sydney bucket list and make some great memories.
