Course Information
City2Surf has one of the most iconic courses in the world. Experience the thrill of starting the 14km event in Australia’s largest city in the middle of its bustling CBD before going to one of the world’s most famous beaches – Bondi Beach.
The race starts at the intersection of Park Street and College Street. Participants then make their way downhill on William Street and head up through the Kings Cross Tunnel.
The course continues along New South Head Road, winding through Rose Bay and then up the infamous “Heartbreak Hill,” the halfway point and one of the most scenic parts of the course.
Runners then turn the corner at Vaucluse onto Old South Head Road, then Military Road, and down the hill, taking in breathtaking ocean views before completing a turnaround at Curlewis Street and crossing the finish line on Queen Elizabeth Drive at Bondi.
Once you cross the finish line, don’t forget to grab your Finisher’s Medal and snap a selfie before heading to the event village to relax and recover!
Is there any better excuse to get together with a mate or two than at City2Surf? Dust off your favourite dress-up, throw on your fave fitness outfit, and run, jog, or walk to Bondi. Don’t forget to book a place for brunch (or beers?) afterwards … Sunday session, anyone?
Maybe it’s the only event you do yearly, or you’re a running fanatic. Perhaps it’s supporting your favourite charity, or maybe it’s just for the medal. Perhaps it’s to conquer Heartbreak Hill, or maybe it’s just for the cheeky post-race celebrations. Whatever your why, City2Surf is about doing it your way.
Not just a place to collect your race bib, the City2Surf Expo is the perfect place to soak up the inspiring atmosphere of the world’s largest fun run while enjoying a host of informative exhibition stalls.
A highlight of event week is that you’ll be able to browse and purchase running accessories and souvenirs from health and fitness exhibitors. Whether you’re hunting for a new foam roller, a race day outfit or some delicious, healthy snacks – there’s something for everyone. There will also be amazing deals available across the expo.

Could you please let me know if the city to surf 2021 registration is now open? or when will it be open?
Hi Diana,
I have searched through the official event website and their Facebook page, and aside from announcing the dates for this year’s event, no details have been announced at this point. In fact, the registration link on the website still goes to the 2020 event signup.
As we are not affiliated with the event, we don’t have any information on when registrations will open, but looking back to the 2019 event as a rough guide, earlybird entries for that event opened up around the middle of April (April 17 to be exact).
We will be updating information as it becomes available, but to ensure you are notified as soon as the information is released, I would suggest following the event on their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/City2Surf/, or joining their mailing list at https://city2surf.com.au/
Thanks
Michael
