Deepavali, which means festival of lights, is an important occasion for the Hindus and is celebrated worldwide for three days beginning on the 13th day of the dark new moon night in the lunar month known as Kartik.

Also known as Diwali, this important Hindu event entails the lighting and flickering of oil lamps. During this occasion, the Hindu community worships Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. Families also celebrate the New Year after Lakshmi Puja by wearing all-new clothing, donning jewellery, and visiting friends and family.
The Hindu Council of Australia plans the festivities in cooperation with other groups, with various cultural events happening at Prince Alfred Square in Parramatta. The community attended the event well because of its religious significance and because it had something to offer attendees of all ages.
There is a Ramayan presentation, a cultural extravaganza, various foods, exciting rides, a special dance group from India, Ravan, and fireworks.
