Winterfest Sydney Medieval Fair

The Winterfest Sydney Medieval Fair is an annual event usually held over the weekend during the school holidays in July. It’s one of the region’s most exciting historical events.

It features an array of medieval-oriented activities and entertainment for all ages to be enjoyed throughout both days. Some of these offer a glimpse into life in the past, while others are just fun and entertainment.

Historical re-enactment groups act out times from the Viking and Dark Ages to the 1600s. Guests can try on armour, play medieval games, and hold weapons. Other entertainment highlights include medieval archery, live-action fantasy role-play, and archery combat.

Head over to the Merchants’ Row, where you can browse curated vendors selling fascinating items and try exotic food. The Artisan Alley is where you’ll find traditional crafts and learn new skills from the artisans.

The event program includes the kids’ corner, live-action role-play, a medieval animal farm, an equestrian area, a pageant theatre, mermaids, and more. Don’t miss out on the annual costume and cosplay competition, where individuals vie for the prize by dressing up in incredible medieval costumes.

So be sure to come in your best outfit if you want a chance to win. The competition is free, and contestants are welcome to wear garb inspired by The Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones. Over a dozen food vendors will also sell varied snacks and dishes, including pizza, pancakes, sausages, burgers, and more.

The Winterfest Sydney Medieval Fair is located at the Hawkesbury Showground, with free parking on-site. The Clarendon railway station is just a two-minute walk away from the gates. Tickets may be purchased online or at the gates.
