Several landmarks mark the suburb’s most notable features. One of these landmarks is the Sze Yup Temple. The temple was built by Chinese immigrants and provided a focal point for early settlers of Chinese descent. The heritage-listed building was constructed to replace one destroyed by fire.
In addition to the temple, Bidura is also worth noting while in Glebe. Like the temple, this house is heritage-listed. Bidura is the brainchild of architect Edmund Blacket and was built in 1857 to cater to Blacket’s family.
A closer look at the house’s architectural design reveals that it may have inspired the design of Toxteth Park, located nearby. Toxteth Park is a historic house that is home to St Scholastica’s College in the suburb. Other landmarks nearby include the Rozelle Tram Depot, which is the largest remaining one of its kind in the suburb, as well as the heritage-listed Lyndhurst Mansion.
There are many fun things to do in Glebe, so make fun memories while there. The fascinating thing about this suburb is that despite its proximity to the CBD, it has maintained the relaxed feel of a quaint village. Moreover, its location between two great universities has created an excellent population of students and elite academicians.
