One of the most popular landmarks in the suburb is the Village of Homebush Estate, which makes up part of the Underwood Estate. In the late 19th century, boundaries were established, and many house blocks were sold off. There are dozens of notable houses, all with a rich accompanying history.
Homebush’s commercial area is located along Rochester Street, with many stores extending towards the railway station. Various stores have also been set up along Parramatta Road in the past to provide more options for shoppers.
Away from retail therapy, there are lots of fun activities to enjoy. Enjoy the natural outdoors as you take on the Parramatta River Walk within the Sydney Olympic Park. This walk brings you up close to the historic Armory Wharf, so whether you are visiting for the views, want to take some time off the city or keep up with your fitness regime, this is an excellent destination. The Wentworth Common Walk is also worth exploring for nature lovers.
It is impossible to visit Homebush without exploring the iconic Bicentennial Park. Undoubtedly one of Sydney’s most popular family destinations, the park does not disappoint. Some of its features include BBQ areas, picnic tables, seating space, water fountains, and toilets. There is ample space for the kids to enjoy playing.
Other places to visit include the Archery Centre at Sydney Olympic Park, Monster Skatepark and the beautiful Sydney Flower Market. Look out for outdoor events and festivals held on location occasionally.
