Sutherland is a suburb in South Sydney, just 30 kilometres from the CBD. It serves as the administrative centre for the local government area of the Sutherland Shire.
The suburb’s name was inspired by one of the seamen who were part of Captain Cook’s team, Forby Sutherland and Sutherland Point is thought to have been named after him.
